Description

Physics & Technology Analyst
MIT Lincoln Laboratory
Lexington, MA

The Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Systems and Architectures Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory invites you to apply to join our world-class team of systems analysts. Working directly with Department of Defense (DoD) senior leadership, the group provides unbiased analysis on the DoD’s most urgent and challenging problems and recommends solutions that directly impact the course of our national defense strategy. The solutions we develop within the group often lead to advanced technology development, prototyping projects, and experimental testing, both within Lincoln Laboratory and beyond.

The group’s staff are the key to the group’s national impact. They are skilled scientists and engineers who have demonstrated deep technical backgrounds and the ability to quickly learn and understand new technologies. Technical Staff members have the talent to break down complex problems and clearly communicate solutions to a wide spectrum of audiences, from technical experts to senior leaders. Our priority for the group is to deliver impactful analysis that informs DoD technology investments, while fostering the professional and personal growth of our staff. We strive for a collaborative and diverse workplace while enjoying a strong work/life balance.

What will you do?

As a Technical Staff member of the ISR Systems and Architectures Group, you will be responsible for systems analysis studies of critical DoD missions, planned DoD capabilities, and new technologies. This entails contributing to the development of physics- and engineering-based models for a wide array of technologies related to sensors, aircraft, satellites, communication systems, navigation, and data exploitation. While previous experience in these systems isn’t required, you must be able to leverage your strong technical background to rapidly become knowledgeable about these technologies as you learn from, and collaborate with, experts across the Laboratory. Additionally, you will prepare and present high-quality briefings to convey key study findings and recommendations, and will deliver these to a range of audiences including DoD senior leaders, government technology experts, and Lincoln Laboratory colleagues.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, high-impact career, apply to join our team today!

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Physics, Mathematics, Aeronautics/Astronautics, Engineering, or a related technical field. In lieu of a doctorate, a Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience will be considered
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with highly interdisciplinary teams

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3.5 GPA
  • Ability to quickly learn new technical areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to break down complex technical problems and communicate key findings to a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience with MATLAB-based modeling, simulation, and data analysis.
  • Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret level security clearance with compartmented program eligibility.

At MIT Lincoln Laboratory, our exceptional career opportunities include many outstanding benefits to help you stay healthy, feel supported, and enjoy a fulfilling work-life balance. Benefits offered to employees include:
