Position Summary: The Industry Specialist is responsible for developing the strategy and execution plan for a specific segment within Scot Forge Company. This position will be responsible with the Segment Director to develop a strategic business plan to address the needs of the segment. This person will also work closely with the inside account management team to assure alignment to the customer, industry and Scot Forge needs. This individual will develop business at targeted accounts within the industry through customer facing contact and the use of value based selling tools.
Researching, Consulting and Developing a Market Strategy (40% of time)
Define the industry and the segments we can serve
Develop the winning value proposition within each market niche
Identify the competitive landscape with key competitor SWOT analysis
Identify key customers and targets
Research new market opportunities with tailored supply chain solutions, expanded material offerings or disruptive offerings
Create and maintain a high level of direct interaction with key decision makers at all levels of the organization with targeted clients.
Participate in trade shows and other targeted industry events
Provide quarterly update to executive team at Scot Forge
Develop customer and market forecast
Defining Market Opportunities / Business Case Development (30% of time – including customer facing time)
What is the unique customer or market opportunity
What is the ideal customer profile
Who are the customer targets
What are their specific needs or pain points and how can we turn them into opportunities
Is there a broadened relevance to the market
What is the associated margin expectation
Who is the executive sponsor at each company or each opportunity
Development of proposal and business case using SF value selling tools
Selling (30% of time)
Grow top line revenue and margin based on business strategy
Identify, develop and cultivate business with major and strategic accounts.
Initiate customer learning to understand the unique requirements, expectations and challenges of the customer.
Identify points of differentiation
Identify opportunities for collaboration in providing superior solutions for our customers.
Chart the course of action to act upon developed opportunities, with the support of Scot Forge Customer Value Engineers (CVE’s).
Responsible for delivery and validation of customer value propositions and generation of related Value Case Histories.
In coordination with inside order fulfillment team, establish goals and support them with business case
Establish market based pricing feedback
Communicate internally with call reports and business case for change
Negotiating customer opportunities as required
Technical Skills Requirements:
Basic Microsoft office proficiency; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
