Candidates are sought who have an MS or Ph.D. degree in either aerospace, aeronautical, astronautical engineering, or a related field. Applicants must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to teach and work in a highly collaborative environment. Preference will be given to applicants with prior university teaching experience, years of experience, and/or graduate degrees.
Viable candidates should be capable of teaching a wide range of undergraduate aerospace engineering courses in both lecture and laboratory formats. Candidates are expected to fit into curriculum groups focused on a) fluids and aerodynamics and/or b) dynamics and controls. This includes courses related to dynamics, aircraft performance, rockets, orbits, and attitude dynamics & control. Engineering design or operational experience in one or both of these areas is ideal. An understanding and appreciation for aerospace engineering fundamentals, as well as excellent management, communication, and organizational skills, along with a willingness to learn quickly, is required. A successful candidate in this position will teach courses during the academic year and summer terms.
