The new Assistant Electric Utilities Director will serve as the primary assistant to the Assistant City Manager (ACM).  Two key responsibilities of the position are generation resource management and administrative oversight. This would include the ability to plan and direct the day-to-day activities of the Department and its staff, as well as focusing on the progress of capital projects with an emphasis on ensuring their timely completion, within established budgets. Additional responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide leadership and daily direction to Departmental staff.
• Provide professional support and advice to the ACM, civic groups, and the general public related to capital improvement project design, engineering, construction, GIS system services, and property management.
• Acquire and manage generation resources to meet the City’s retail load requirements and comply with state renewable resource and GHG emission reduction goals.
• Work with the CEC and CAISO on resource planning and congestion revenue rights management.
• Make all legislative and regulatory filings with the CAISO, CEC, NERC and FERC.
• Promote and articulate a commitment to excellent customer service. 
• Ensure Departmental compliance with applicable City, State, and Federal laws.
• Communicate official plans, policies, and procedures to staff and the general public.
• Supervise, train, mentor and evaluate professional, para- professional, technical, and administrative support staff.
