SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for assisting in developing and leading a competitive Quality Assurance department focused on achieving the organization’s quality goals. This role will help drive the activities of the quality assurance function and coordinates cross functionally to ensure quality of products and processes. In addition, the position will drive root cause analysis and lead corrective actions with suppliers to address issues and/or problems. The Quality Assurance Supervisor will also assist with developing a stable, innovative and supplier focused quality assurance team. This is a hands-on operational role to ensure that all products received, produced and shipped to customers meet IPD’s quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Regular Functions include:
Assist VP of Operations to drive Quality Assurance system for Business Unit by working cross functionally with Quality Engineers, Supply Base, Operations, Sales, and Engineering departments to critically evaluate quality management system. Identify opportunities for streamlining processes (LEAN manufacturing focus) so that to ensure quality product as a whole.
Lead ISO 9001 quality management insuring continued registration
Lead problem-solving and process improvement processes with manufacturing and with customers to achieve resolution and elimination of current product issues.
Review, analyze and allocate Quality Assurance/Quality Control resources as required by project demand.
Develop and implement PFMEA analysis procedure to mitigate risks identified in each product line either from process or from product standpoint.
Manage and ensure process control for Non-Conformance Material Reports (NCMR), supplier records, internal and supplier audit records, and other documentation record keeping functions. Implement process through relevant procedures, updating the Quality databases as required.
Manage and improve Incoming Inspection procedures.
Train and lead department in Document Control procedures to ensure proper management of company’s Document Control system. Ensure Quality Assurance vs. Quality Control approach is followed.
Report customer and internal quality metrics to management. Drive corrective action to facilitate improvements.
Analyze and evaluate Quality Assurance Lab labor costs and Lab expenses.
Work closely with Engineers to further develop test methods and data collection systems as well as qualification testing for finished goods, in process goods and raw materials.
Provide recommendations for improvements to the quality system, inspection methods and equipment.
Coordinate Lab support for data collection & analysis in product capability & process validation studies.
Supervise customer complaints, implementing immediate and short term solutions, coordinate a corrective action plan or continuous improvement procedures along with suppliers – either internal or external.
Other duties as required.
Periodic Functions include:
Develop reports as required.
Participate in customer audits ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and written specifications as needed.
Participate in key supplier audits to reduce quality risk as needed.
Travel will be required (approx. 10-15%).
Be viewed as the Quality Champion for IPD and engage the entire organization in pursuing quality and operational excellence.
Supervise and develop direct and indirect labor associated with Quality Assurance function.
Recommend and assist with employee development programs and ensure performance objectives are outlined and completed thoroughly and in a timely manner.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with 2 or more years in a technical quality position or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in a Manufacturing Environment, preferably in a Manager role.
Industry experience in machining metals, high variety manufacturing and assembly an asset

Working ability with Microsoft Office suite – able to organize, manipulate and analyze large amounts of data in excel and produce coherent conclusions/recommendations for action
