Wetland Services is a full service restoration & consulting firm serving Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois & Western Kentucky. We are currently seeking a Wetland and Stream Restoration Scientist.
The minimum requirements are a Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering or closely related field and one year of experience assessing or restoring streams & wetlands.
Primary responsibilities will include stream and wetland mitigation monitoring, jurisdictional water determinations, water quality monitoring, Hydrology inquires, ArcGIS mapping, Real Time Kinematic (RTK) surveying and associated computer-aided design (CAD) work and report writing. Additional duties may include tasks associated with stream and wetland restoration design, construction and maintenance. The applicant does not need to be experienced in all fields. Wetland Services is willing to train and develop the right candidate.
Preferred skills include:
Wetland delineation utilizing the ’87 Manual and Regional Supplements.
Stream assessment utilizing the EPA RBP and Rosgen methods.
RTK and Trimble GPS surveying experience.
AutoCAD and ArcGIS skills.
Natural stream channel design principles.
Midwest and Southeast plant ID.
Aquatic macroinvertebrate and fish ID
Experience operating vehicles with trailers and farm equipment.
The successful applicant will have good communication skills. This individual will also have good initiative while being able to follow concise instruction. Attention to detail is critical as is a positive attitude and work ethic.
This job requires periodic out-of-town travel or long day trips into remote areas. It requires the physical ability to traverse difficult terrain on foot, boat, ATV, 4X4, etc., and navigate by aerial photos & quad maps.
Wetland Services offers our clients a full range of services including remote sensing, wetland delineation, stream assessment, aquatic bioassessment, T&E surveys, 401/404 permitting, mitigation, monitoring & maintenance, as well as periodic presentations at conferences. Cross-training in these other departments is available.
