CommScope is hiring an Engineer Principal, Structural for an opportunity located in either Euless, Texas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design new and/or modify telecommunication sub-structures and related infrastructure (monopole platforms, sector frames, roof top mounts, bracketry, etc.).
Analyze existing telecom structures for applied external loads and determine internal forces, stresses, and capacities. Make judgements regarding the integrity of these structures and convey these results to appropriate team members.
Prepare comprehensive design calculations and report packages. Effective communication of engineered decisions to customers, coworkers, architects, engineers, and other personnel in a clear, comprehensible manner.
Work with external Architectural and Engineering firms to obtain 3rd party PE certifications.
Assume responsible charge of the design of various projects and assist with their design/implementation.
Oversee designs and/or calculations prepared by other team staff members.
Oversee drawing production and ensure engineered decisions are properly described.
Multi-task and coordinate multiple projects and staff simultaneously.
Prioritize workflow and maintain schedules.
Mentor EIT team members.
Completed bachelor’s degree with twelve (12) plus years of relevant experience or a completed master’s degree with eight (8) plus years of relevant years of experience.
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and able to practice structural engineering in at least one state of the USA, multiple states, especially Texas, preferred.
Proficient knowledge of the general practice of structural engineering and the various building codes & standards currently in use. Telecommunication experience is a plus.
Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills with the ability to manage priorities and workflow.
Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams or committees.
Ability to make sound engineering judgments and justify them coherently and professionally to customers, partners, and co-workers.
Experience with Solidworks, RISA 3D and Ansys software are preferred.
Knowledge of TIA-222 and experience working on TIA or other standards bodies preferred but not required.
