The role of a Structural Engineer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. They will work on plans and designs of structural engineering projects including new and rehabilitation of hydraulic, environmental, industrial and general structures.
Your Key Responsibilities
Performs engineering design and/or review of tasks on assigned projects
May be responsible for the review and sealing of projects
Conducts quality assurance and quality control on structural projects
Assisting in preparation of construction contract documents, plans and reports
Performs calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software
Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions
Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and complex working drawings
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions
General knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation and any other relevant design software
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others
Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various structures
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structures, Master’s degree a plus. EIT certification required. Licensed Professional Engineer a plus. Previous structural engineering experience preferred.
