The City of Salem is looking for an Operations Manager at Public Works Department Wastewater Treatment Division. The work involves responsibility for operating and managing the operational sections of the wastewater treatment division to ensure the compliance with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. The Wastewater Treatment division consists of four sections: maintenance, operation, administration and bio-solids. The ideal candidate will have a broad base of wastewater treatment and regulatory experience in managing a big wastewater treatment system including supervision, operations, budgeting, process optimization, project management and event support of wastewater treatment projects. About Us: Salem's Public Works Department provides stormwater, transportation, parks, recreation, and project delivery services for the City of Salem and delivers drinking water and wastewater treatment services for the region. The Department has an annual operating budget of approximately $147 M, a construction budget of $106M, and 427 full-time equivalent employees. Wastewater treatment division, one of the five divisions under Public Works department, is responsible for treating the wastewater from City of Turner, City of Keizer and City of Salem and unincorporated part from Marion County, a population of 230,000 people. The wastewater Division has a current annual operating budget of $12 million and 53 full-time employees. The operations section under wastewater treatment division is a critical section to ensure the treated effluent in compliance with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. This position requires excellent managerial and communications skills, and ability to work collaboratively with plant supervisors, city staff, senior managers, special interest advocates, and a broad spectrum of interested community members. Experience in all aspects of real-time distributed control processes is preferred.

What are the minimum qualifications?
Must pass the pre-employment background check.
Must have an Oregon Driver's license and have a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental engineering, civil engineering, processing systems engineering, biology, or related field, and six years of progressively responsible managerial experience in a related wastewater field.
Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Class IV Wastewater Treatment Certification, or the highest level of certification that your respective state offers.
If you are an out of state candidate and are selected for the position, you will have six months to obtain the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Class IV Wastewater Treatment Certification.
