What you’ll do:
As the Hardgoods Quality Assurance Engineer you will combine your technical & regulatory knowledge of materials, manufacturing and intended use to help develop and market safe, high quality Hardgoods and Housewares products in partnership with our suppliers and other internal and external partners. Your major focus include developing quality and safety programs and systems, timely review and assessment of quality plans and product design, test and other performance data, analysis of market feedback, leading root cause analysis and quality problem solving. The position reports to Head of Product Safety, Quality and Integrity.
How you’ll make an impact:
Work multi-functionally and with external suppliers to design safety & quality in product development and sourcing processes.
Partner with supplier to develop product specification/standards including critical to quality & safety attributes, defects and allowable levels, product claims and substantiations such as testing, certifications and other necessary information.
Develop and assess product testing and factory inspection protocols to assure they incorporate regulatory requirements, product characteristics, transit, and performance testing as well as Brandless standards. Interpret results of laboratory/inspection findings and provide timely and accurate product feedback to suppliers and merchants.
Lead quality & technical assessment on product performance and post-market product quality analysis to identify trends and take action to minimize product /brand risks and reduce cost of quality failures.
Lead root cause analysis projects, corrective action (CAPAs) discussions/implementations.
Develop programs, systems and processes as part of QMS “Quality Management System”.
Lead and/or participate in internal/external factory, quality system and process audits.
Stay on top of current regulations and technologies and resolve applicability to program and products
Effectively communicate quality direction, policy, and procedure with suppliers, merchants and factories.

What you’ll bring:
Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, Engineering preferred. (mechanical, material, industrial, multi-discipline etc.)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering role in the manufacturing and/or retail industry ideally in Housewares
Good problem solving and decision-making skills. Displays a sense of urgency and initiative with creativity and flexibility.
Excellent communication (verbal, written), interpersonal and presentation skills
Ability to lead priorities with a high level of detail in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Ability to work collaboratively & multi-functional with multiple partners such as merchants, marketing, contract manufacturers and testing laboratories.
Experience with risk management methodology
Experience with auditing manufacturing facilities and quality management systems
Knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and major state regulations such as CA Proposition 65
Driven to learn new skills and product categories
Capable of leading uncertainty and driving clarity
Be passionate about product quality and performance
Able to travel up to 40% of the time
Extra points if you bring:
Experience in processes related to Design Change Control, Design Reviews, Requirements Management
Working knowledge of 6Sigma, ASQ, CMA Engineering standards or similar continuous improvement disciplines (Certification preferred)
Member of industry QA organizations and certifications.
