The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) invites applications for the position of Department Chair. The Department seeks exceptional candidates with (1) a record of high quality scholarship and competitive research with federal, state and industry funding, (2) experience and leadership in professional organizations, (3) excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, and (4) leadership/mentorship experience and a commitment to inclusion and diversity. Successful candidates must demonstrate a clear vision for expanding the research enterprise of the Department, and the ability to build strong relationships with local industry and other academic departments. In addition, they must be able to articulate a clear vision for the future of the Department in civil and environmental engineering education.
The required qualifications of the successful candidate are a doctorate in civil or environmental engineering or a related field, with outstanding research and teaching records that warrant an appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure. Tenure is contingent upon Board of Regents approval.
The preferred qualifications are registration as a professional engineer, experience in an academic supervisory capacity/leadership position, experience with ABET accreditation, knowledge of innovative curriculum development and implementation, experience with fiscal management responsibilities, and leadership in professional organizations.
Compensation will be commensurate with applicant qualifications.

UTSA is one of the 13 University of Texas System's Campuses situated in the City of San Antonio. Over the last ten years the College of Engineering at UTSA has experienced sustained growth in terms of student population, number of faculty, and research awards. The College includes five engineering departments: Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. The College of Engineering hosts several research centers including the Texas Sustainable Energy Research Institute and the Institute for Cyber Security.
