Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking a Senior Automation Engineer with at least 10 years working experience to work within our Process Engineering group to support a number of projects in the pharmaceutical engineering sectors at our Philadelphia, PA office.
Key Responsibilities •Ensures the successful design and delivery of automation, instrumentation and low voltage systems •Assists with the development and presentation of proposals giving advice on the proper execution strategy •Defines the Automation requirements at the proper level of detail considering the type of Project (Conceptual, Basic, Detailed Design) •Supports the development of cost estimates •Accountable for the man-hours budget assigned to Projects and for the compliance with the Project schedule •Prepares System Architectures, Technical Specifications, Material Requisitions related to Process Automation, Building Automation and Low Voltage Systems; supports the preparation of related layouts (cable trays, low voltage, F&G layouts etc.) •Supports the other disciplines (e.g. commenting P&IDs, collaborating to the preparation of Functional Specifications, commenting Process packages Material Requisitions) •Carries out the Technical Evaluation of the bids of Vendors and Sub-Contractors •Technically leads several projects simultaneously •Has the capability to drive the automation Contractors during the detailed design phase so that they maintain the proper path in terms of quality of design and schedule
Skills / Qualifications •BS or MS in Automation, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering •10 + years of experience in the design of process automation systems for pharma facilities •(biotech, API) as well as in design of Building Automation Systems •Strong knowledge of process automation platforms on the market (i.e. Emerson Delta V, Siemens PCS7, Rockwell ....) •Knowledge of ISA 588 and ISA 595 standards •Experience in specifying field instruments and panels •Good interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment •Knowledge of the basic principles in various engineering disciplines •Must know how to effectively lead projects, coordinate contractors, cross-collaborate and direct the activities of technicians •Capability to coordinate resources •Familiar with execution of medium to large projects •Excellent interpersonal skills, writing skills •Travel may be required
