Performs complex professional engineering work in the research, planning, design, construction and installation of mechanical, hydraulic and other elements of a variety of capital construction, maintenance and/or asset management projects; provides engineering support to trade shop personnel in the diagnosis and resolution of mechanical system and equipment malfunctions and failures; and performs related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience working in a 24-7 industrial plant or utility as a maintenance engineer; extensive knowledge of predictive maintenance and CMMS; experience trouble shooting defective equipment using Failure Modes and Effects Analysis or Root Cause Analysis; and the ability to work with mechanics, operators, and contractors. Mechanical PE certification is desired, but not required.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in mechanical, materials science or metallurgical engineering; and at least three years of progressively responsible professional mechanical engineering experience, preferably in a water utility; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A valid certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the State of Nevada is required for appointment to Mechanical Engineer P.E. Certification as a Certified Reliability Engineer issued by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) is highly desirable. A valid Nevada driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's Vehicle Insurance Policy.
