Skills / Qualifications •Bachelor's degree or combination of technical education, PDH's, licensure, and certification plus 5 to 12 years of industry experience •NCDOT certification for testing of soils and concrete •Special Inspections certification •In-depth knowledge and understanding of project focus •Ability to use laboratory and test equipment in an effective and safe manner •Ability to understand and procedural manuals and execute work orders •Ability to prepare moderately complex reports and documentation •Pays attention to detail and trains junior level techs to be detail oriented •Ability to work with minimal supervision •Leadership and interpersonal skills
Physical Job Requirements •Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds •Ability to drive large pick-up truck •Ability to use hands to operate field equipment •Close, distance, and peripheral vision; normal auditory function •Must complete employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a respirator, as required •Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as required
License / Certification Requirements •Qualifications to include experience and NCDOT and Special Inspections certifications ?Materials: NCDOT Soil and Concrete; Special Inspections •Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record •Must pass Health and Safety Training and Defensive Driving Courses upon hire
Machines, Tools and/or Equipment Used •Field tools and equipment •Pickup truck and/or other motor vehicle(s); some locations require individual to have their own vehicle •On occasion, office equipment such as photocopy machine and fax machine •Personal computer and desk top software (e.g., MSOffice)
Work Environment •May be required to work at remote sites around construction equipment, drilling rigs, explosives and environmental contamination •Overtime and overnight stays may be required •Some fieldwork may require working with hazardous materials and in hazardous conditions
Travel •May spend most or all of time in the field, including at sites remote from the office, as part of on-site team
