Job Description
Aerospace Vehicle Design a the Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate or Tenured Associate Level. Requirements: Ph.D. in aerospace engineering or a related engineering area is required, and a B.S. degree in aerospace engineering is desirable. A strong commitment to teaching excellence in aero-space vehicle design at the undergraduate level is expected, and the successful candidate will also be expected to initiate and sustain a high-quality, externally funded graduate research program in Un-manned Air and Space Systems, or related areas. Applications are encouraged from individuals who have configuration design experience and experience with existing aircraft design methods, and educational design software. Applicants should have a general background in aerodynamics, flight mechanics, aircraft structures, and air or space vehicle propulsion design, with a specialization in one or more of these areas. Candidates with prior design teaching experience are particularly encouraged to apply. About our program: The Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University has a long-standing and recognized tradition of providing industry supported design-build-fly experiences for our undergraduates, in particular through our signature two-semester capstone aircraft-design sequence. The first semester covers configuration design and synthesis from requirements definition through critical design review, while the second semester consists of validation and verification through simulation, wind tunnel testing, and sub-scale flight testing and report out.
