Job Description
Granta Design are leaders in materials information technology, providing software, databases, and services for everything to do with materials and processes in engineering and design. Our customers include industry leaders such as Boeing, Emerson Electric, J&J, Lockheed-Martin, NASA, Northrop Grumman, and Rolls Royce. We are headquartered in Cambridge, England, and are now looking for a US-based Materials Information Consultant to join our team.

This is the ideal job for a smart engineer or scientist, especially one with materials experience, wanting to work at the forefront of IT for engineering applications. The job offers:

• Competitive pay (base + bonus) • Projects with leading US-based corporations from aerospace to medical devices • Flexibility on location: Midwest or other location with good transport links to customers all around the country • You could work directly for Granta or you could be based in a consulting company and work for Granta under contract

The role:

• Work closely with our customers to design and implement materials data management systems based on the GRANTA MI platform • Travel for on-site consultancy, implementation, and training in North America • Granta is headquartered in Cambridge, England -- you will need to spend time in Cambridge for initial training

Requirements
The ideal candidate:

• A major in mechanical engineering, materials science or metallurgy; or possibly physics, chemistry, or similar • Good computer skills: advanced Excel, VBA skills; database and SQL experience an advantage • Must meet requirements necessary to work with some of our defense industry customers • Enjoy working with customers, like to travel • Experience of working in an industry served by Granta is an advantage: e.g. aerospace, defense, energy, medical, consumer, electrical, electronics, oil & gas.
