Job Description

Our client, L-3 Communications Electron Devices Division in San Carlos, CA, has exciting career opportunities available for innovative engineers and scientists. L-3 EDD, a recognized leader in microwave and millimeter-wave vacuum electron device technology, provides a wide range of high power products for the military, commercial, medical, industrial and scientific sectors. Products include broadband helix traveling wave tubes (TWTs), high power SatCom TWTs, coupled cavity TWTs, compact millimeter-wave folded waveguide TWTs, high power klystrons, and high efficiency miniature TWTs, as well as high power switch tubes, complete amplifier sub-systems, microwave and millimeter wave power modules (MPMs).

We are currently assisting them in their search for qualified candidates to fill helix traveling wave tube design engineering and project engineering positions at their San Carlos, CA location.

NOTES: 2 openings. US Residents Only. Employer will assist with relocation costs

Requirements

Design Engineer:
A Ph.D in physics or engineering is preferred, however, exceptional candidates with an M.S. degree will be considered. This position requires a strong theoretical background in the physics of charged particle motion and electromagnetics, as well as knowledge of hardware, test equipment and experimental techniques. Knowledge of thermomechanical principles and analysis is also desirable. A background in plasma physics will be viewed positively, and the successful candidate will have good analytical and computational skills.

Project Engineer:
A B.S. or M.S. degree in physics or engineering is required. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical direction for, and oversight of, helix TWT production programs. The individual should have, or be prepared to acquire, a detailed knowledge of tube design, fabrication, assembly and test, as well as the ability to analyze test results and implement corrective action. Experience with electron optics, electromagnetic field solvers and device interaction codes, is preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and good problem solving skills are required, and the ability to plan and execute tasks individually, or within an integrated product team, is necessary. The candidate should also have the ability to generate technical reports and present findings.

Successful candidates must be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required for our engineering positions). L-3 EDD is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V. They maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment substance abuse testing.
